And hmm, let's see, things that drive me nuts in fanfiction...
7. AU's where the 'characters' act NOTHING like the characters they're supposed to be. For instance, writing Jensen/Jared RPS fics is huge in the Supernatural community, particularly in AU's. Now, I love J2 AU's, but every now and then among the good ones you get a fic where someone is essentially writing their own characters and just using familiar names because they have nothing in common with their source. If you wanna do that, go write a book. I mean, I'm pretty open minded, and I think it's ok to make changes and such...I just don't think it's ok to change EVERYTHING.
8. People who think they are OMG THE BEST EVER. So good, in fact, that they can be condescending to every other author in the fandom and act like they're better than everyone else. The first House/Wilson I ever read was written by a woman like that, and while I love the story, I can't stand her at all. It's fine to be confidant in your abilities without being an arrogant ass...not fine to treat everyone else like they're crap.
9. People who change characters to write them super dark, and then don't fix it. I mean, I wrote a story where Cas was a demon(lol), but then I fixed it...which is why it became a full story, cause I couldn't leave him as a demon, lol This one, I get that it's just a personal thing, but like...it really bugs me, say, to have Dean suddenly rape Sam and turn into an utter asshole overnight and that's it, that's all the story's about. I guess some people go in for that kind of thing, but I can't stand it. I guess that ties in with...some people see characters different ways, so they write them different ways, and I think that's fine. But blatant OOC-ness, not so much, not unless you warn for it.
...and...I have no idea what else, XD I know there's other stuff, probably actually stuff that bug me more than these but for some reason, I just can't think of it, haha
